Arrow to the quiver

I was reading my friends list (should that have an apostrope, is it the list of my friends, or the my friends' list... it's left as an exercise to the reader) of an early morning, as ya' do, when I came across this snippet from [info]akirlu

A Bullet for the Meme War Arsenal

"Waking up to NPR, as you do, I heard an analyst use a golden phrase to describe half of the Congressional inactivity on fixing Social Security. Free Lunch Republicans. Gosh that's beautiful. It's got such wide applicability. Everytime they trot out the old chestnut about "Tax & Spend" Democrats, you can reply that only Free Lunch Republicans would imagine that you can keep spending money without having some first. It's particularly exquisite because there is that brand of "Libertarian" Republican who is only too fond of reciting TANSTAAFL at the drop of a rhetorical hat.

Please feel free to disseminate widely"

I wish she'd write more. She has been a role-model for my writing for going on 20 years (and that sounds so strange... I don't feel that old). If my descriptive writing of place and time have any evocative craft it is from reading her talk about a trip up the San Joaquin Valley one spring. (I can see her going aw shucks, as she reads this, and not quite blushing behind the twinkly smile.

So, listen to her, and disseminate.

No apostrophe, unless you're reading a friend's friends list.

It's YOUR list of friends. See. :)

Aw, shucks.

You learn well, grasshopper. You do damn' fine descriptive writing, yourself. 'Course, if you want to see more of my writing, you could always join one of my APAs... [ducks, runs away]

No need to run.

Not that I need more things to feel guilty about not keeping up with (I still owe Andy something for Chunga).

Tell you what... Send me one (and I'll even let you include Myriad in the list of options) and I'll try to do it.

But ducking was wise... I threw psychic-koosh-balls at you.
