In accordance with AR 600-20, para 5-3(1)(a), political opinions expressed on this blog are those of myself in my private capacity and not as a representative of the DoD, DA, or any particular element of the Army.
I was in the Army for 16 years, speak Russian and (very rusty) French, in addition to English, and get to spend both more, and less, time away from home than I'd like.
For those who care, yes that is my picture.
I allow anyone who can read a post to respond, and anonymity will be respected if requested, but I (me, the host of this little salon) require knoweldge of who you are. If you want to post anon., you may, but if I don't know who you are, some form of introduction, or identification, is required, before the post will be unscreened. I'd really like an e-mail address, so I can contact you, but won't insist on it.
I do, of course, reserve the right to deep-six, pointlessly, rude comments, or (what I feel to be) obvious trolling, though the usual response to trolls will be to completely ignore them.
I value civility in discourse, and will, generally, use the power of being in charge to see I get it. Heated is all right, pointfully rude can be accepted. Mean spirited, pointlessly offensive or such as otherwise offends my sense of propriety will cause purgation of the offending comment.
If you want to link to me, feel free. I write for public consumption. I do ask that, should you wish to quote me, you link to the post in question, so those who want to comment, may; and context can be kept, for those who wonder at just what I actually meant, instead of what they got from the quotation. It isn't a slam at you, but things change in the telling, no matter how purely we mean them. I've screwed that pooch a few times myelf.
